The tripod was really flimsy and none to stable. If you lifted the tripod to move or adjust it the legs would fall apart. The grill is held in place by one thin chain that swings. If what ever you put on the grill has some weight to it like an 8 cup coffee pot and it is not on center the thing starts to tip. This is the worst design you could come up with. The legs kept falling apart every time I moved it. They designed it with an elastic cord in the leg poles like a tent pole. The problem with this is that when you cook with it the elastic cord melts and no longer holds the legs together. Not that it held the legs together before it melted. Even with the cord the legs kept coming apart every time I moved it. In the real world you can not control flames from a camp fire. In the real world you do not keep the grill tripod over the fire pit all the time. Maybe this would be a good lantern hanger but I never tried it for that. I did not plan on spending $26.00 on a lantern hanger. I already have a great one I got for $7.00.Stay away from this product. My father bought one that he said was made by Rome industries. It is a real nice one for the same price. Using his last year is what prompted me to get one of my own. Do yourself a favor and search... Cooked all my meals useing the tripod over an open fire. Worked great and the food was excellent. Did loose one hotdog that fell off. Can't wait to use it again. |
