Coleman Outfitter Cook Kit Reviews
7 of 7 people found the following review helpful Well made and practical, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Coleman Outfitter Cook Kit (Sports) Cooks sets can be made of aluminum, stainless steel, or a non-stick surface. Non-stick may be convenient, but it will eventually wear out. For me, aluminum can be acceptable, quality and thickness need to be right. This stainless steel set should last me for many years. The thickness of the steel is just fine with me. Another reviewer would rather take cast iron. To me, that's a little too thick and heavy for camping. The handles can lock in the upright position that make it easy to pour. Just be careful because they get very hot. I always carry a clean pocket handkerchief that I use both as a pot holder and a dish towel. I checked the sizes and they are accurate. Much of my cooking is simple. The smallest 1 quart pot can handle cooking for two with my menus. I doubt that I'll ever use the largest 3 quart pot. Stainless steel can cook very hot, so you need to pay attention to what you're cooking so that you don't burn it. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Good, inexpensive camping cookware, By gDane (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Coleman Outfitter Cook Kit (Sports) My only complaint is that the handles swing too freely. Not a big deal though. That said, these are perfect for camping. We cooked everything from bacon and eggs, to chili, to grilled cheese sandwiches -- even baked corn bread -- over fire coals. They nest, so the packed pots and lids are the size of the largest one. And yeah, these get black over the fire. Scrub them clean, or do what I do: leave them black. BTW, cooking over a fire is what makes your pots black. Cook over coals. It's a hotter, cleaner 'stovetop'.You can spend a LOT more money on the super-duper titanium, coated cookware, and end up with basically the same thing: something to cook your food over a fire. The money I saved by buying the Coleman gear, I spent on a good sleeping bag. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful good set for the price, all you need for 2 people., By Kopperhed (OK, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Coleman Outfitter Cook Kit (Sports) good camping cookset, used it 3 days after receiving, very pleased. sturdy enough w/o being clumsily heavy. good set for 2 people, no need for individual mess kits, just throw in a mug each & utensils. |
