I've owned some maglights in the past, but that was before LEDs were being used. I saw this coleman light on display at a local sporting goods store, along with the rest of the CPX products, and I was amazed by how bright, and white, the light was. I was pondering some of the other lights for sale on Amazon, most boasting much more power (some twice as much) for the same price or less. However, I was intrigued with the CPX's ability to use a nice rechargeable battery that could be swapped with other coleman products, and its apparent quality construction. I made the purchase.I couldn't be happier with it. It is a fairly small light, not much bigger than a normal sized hand. It is also very light due to it being constructed of aluminum, and I love the flat black look of it. It is easy to turn on and off with one hand. 7 hours of battery life seems like a lot for such a bright light, though I have not yet tested it. I live along... While it is extremely bright, this thing is designed and constructed so poorly that I have to imagine that everyone that left a good review did so before it fell apart. First off, the red part is a plastic sleeve that is glued to the black tube. I have no idea why there needs to be two parts. Why not just have the black metal tube? The minute I attempted to pop the battery pack out, the red plastic piece separated from the black metal tube because its held on with glue that isn't able to adhere to slick plastic. OK, I crazy-glued it back together, but after a month of very infrequent use, now the on/off switch will not allow it to turn off. It slides to the on position just fine, but no matter what I do, it wont turn far enough back toward off to actually turn it off. So I either have to dislodge the battery every time I'm done with it, or leave it to slowly drain the batteries. Bizarrely, when its fully turned to the off position, it... It's worth it for that price. Solid, quality, aluminum construction with a nice, bright beam. The switch is rather unique in that it's not a push 'clicky' located in either the tail or the body. It's below the headlight and rotates. Neither good or bad, just different. The only negatives:1. Non-adjustable focus. This doesn't really bother me but some might like the adjustability. 2. Single-mode only switch, i.e., there's no low beam. It doesn't seem like this would have been that tough to add, given the way the switch works. Again, not that much of a biggie to me. 3. But what 'is' an annoyance is including just one CPX 'battery pack'. It's actually quite nice to have a simple, secure, easy way to take out the battery pack which holds the the 3 AAA batteries.
